He always said that Harry Truman gave him the best birthday gift ever! The end of the war!

It's now 78 years since the destruction of Hiroshima.

I took this photo of Hiroshima from about 9000 feet as we were flying into Hiroshima in 1968.

Japanese had no intention to surrender. My adopted dad said that he was very glad that the bomb was dropped. He was on a troop ship (after fighting with Patton through The Battle of the Bulge) bound for Japan and they had been told to expect a minimum of 50% casualties, not to include the Japanese military or civilians.

Too bad, that man has yet to learn to cooperate and be peaceful. I guess that before that can happen, we have to acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord!
