Bob Dylan got it right, things are a'changin'. My 2 favorite shootists, both JT's, John Taffin and Jim Taylor have seemed to awaken a new/old passion, that of black powder revolvers. And I have never been into black powder guns of any type, yet I have recently introduced a new 44 caliber black powder revolver in our new Avenger. With black powder illegal in this county I am sure I will never get into these guns like John and Jim have but I do enjoy designing a new series and making them a bit special. And I thank those of you that seem to like our new Avengers too. And good Lord willing there will be more to come.

Gary .. can you use the black powder substitutes?

Pyrodex ... Triple 7 ... etc? They work well. John Taffin told me that Triple 7 gives the highest velocities and while I have not chronographed mine, power level is right up there and accuracy is excellent. PLUS .. they are often easier to obtain than black powder.

As far as I know they are OK. Every year or so when the

fire department comes in to check us the first thing they ask is "you don't carry any black powder, do you?" So I haven't muddied up the water by asking.

I find Hodgdon 777 adds 150-200 fps over Pyrodex or BP

And anyone who carries smokless powder can get it. Caps right now are hard to get sometimes and pricy. I need one of those cap making tools, and one for musket size for sure!
