Went out shooting yesterday...

I was "plinking" with a SW Performance Center Victory 22 LR autoloader and ran into something that surprised me.

I had a "backfire" of sorts. When I shot, I was sprayed in the face with some powder as it blasted through the action. This really took me by surprise. I never thought I'd experience something like this.

I was shooting some Winchester 22 LR rounds and noticed an awful lot of misfires. I would take the misfired round, rotate it to a fresh portion of the round and refire it. Again nothing. I recall in my youth misfires being rather rare. Now they are much more common.

The other issue that I have noticed is that of leading. I know that the WW are copper washed, but I do not believe that the wash is of any high quality. Again, I recall from the past that barrels did not foul up as easily. It seems that either the gun or the ammo is part of the reason for the gun to lead up.

After the "backfire", I disassembled the gun and thoroughly cleaned it. I noticed shards of lead coming out of the barrel. Again, in the past I could shoot a brick or two of 22 LR and not have this happen. Now it seems much more common.

Out of curiosity, does anyone else have issues like this?
