Reeder Custom Guns - About talked myself out of it again...

I really like the idea of a .22 WMR trail semi-auto. The Kel-tec is really attractive with its super light weight. Plus with two mags you have about $25 worth (60 rnds.) at your quick disposal. I DO think the .22 WMR is more reliable than the .22 LR rimfire, also the bullet, being actually a jacketed slug, is more effective. But reading some late SIG and S&W tests on their versions I was let down by the actual performance. For a foundation, my old M63 S&W 4" kit gun revolver clocks Winchester Super-X 40 gr. .22 LR right at 1100 fps. These .22 WMR were pushing 45 gr. at 1200 fps. The lighter pointy .22 WMR can hang a semi-auto mag and render it dead. I also note that they were only about 100 fps faster to boot. I have shot .22 WMR from a Single-six at an average of around 1300-1350 fps for the 45 gr. loading (6.5" barrel).

With .22 WMR running around $20/50 it just doesn't seem that much of a boost in performance to justify. In a rifle things are different! The 45 gr. runs about 1900-1950 fps. The .22 LR usually pushes the nominal 40 gr. at 1300 fps or so.

I have one of those... and I love the gun. Not only is it very light but it has many rounds available in the magazine. I haven't tried amounts of .22 mags in it but the brand I did use was very reliable.

I have the Kel-Tec .22 WMR. It is very light and I have never had an issue with its performance. It functions flawlessly. I debated getting it for several years before I bit on it. I wish I hadn't waited so long. Whenever I go out in the field during the summer months to work on the hunt property I have it with me along with an extra mag. I don't have to worry about the extra weight on my hip while working and I have something that will dispatch or scare away little varmints and snakes that may decide they want to challenge me.

It's just a good little gun with a little more oompf than a .22.

That's not a bad price considering there is no shipping or $40 AR sales tax, it's included. He had a gray one I liked.

But I have a S&W M63, a Ruger SP101 8-shot RF, S&W M17, Colt Officer Model .22, Hawes SAA, in revolvers to name just a few. My Taurus TX-22 is about as light and while only a .22 LR and capacity of 16, it's a good gun and not far behind in performance it seems. I'm just going to have to take a leap if I ever want to get a Kel-tec .22 WMR. Get my want to and money at the same time and place.

kept the other. It is a two toned gun. I bought it for her so she has a gun of her own. She lives in California so this gives her an excuse to come over so she and Kase can go burn up some powder.
Of my 22 magnum pistols I like the RIA the best. The Kel-Tec is probably the most dependable but I just like the 1911 feel of the RIA.

a SW 48, standard velocity ammo, lower velocity self defense ammo, and melons. The standard velocity ammo would always just punch a 22 caliber hole through the melon. The self defense ammo would always leave an impressive exit wound, sometimes even even exploding the melon. I guess the regular 22wmr ammo doesn't develop enough velocity out of a handgun for the bullet to expand properly. Makes sense.

You'd have to get a shorter one to raise the impact to 6'0clock hold as I like it. Drift to adjust right and left. I want to see where the bullet is impacting. And they adapted them to optic options. They offer a threaded barrel but warn it's not advisable to use a suppressor. Must mess with the delayed blow back. But sounds pretty good still.

The SIG and S&W probably are good guns too. A .22 WMR costs almost twice as much to shoot as a 9mm centerfire! Depends on the deal you find for ammo. But here in AR you are not supposed to carry a centerfire anything in the woods except during gun deer season! Most Game Wardens would not mess with you too much as we have lots of crack-heads running amuck, but they can wield lots of authority if they are having a bad day! They can come in your house anytime they want to look in your freezer. lol No search warrant needed!

for a couple years. Nice trigger, very accurate, ball of fire, but not much more impact then a 22lr, I felt, with the short barrel. good sights too. Overall I really liked it. I just rotate stock once in a while.
