Reeder Custom Guns - Spent a little time yesterday

casting some of Elmer's 454424's. I shoot a lot of these so it's time to start restocking my supply. As to not let Mr. Thompson feel slighted, today I cast a few of his 452490's.

Both are excellent bullets and with my alloy the 424 weighs 263 grs. and the 490 comes in at 268 grs. With either bullet I would not feel at a disadvantage. Because of the gas check I lean more towards the 424.

I can't believe I didn't cull that wrinkled bullet just high of center in the first picture for the photo. It did get sorted out before sizing and lube.

I've got the 7 GNR for that. It shoots so well it has taken over all chuck shooting. My G'Son with his first chuck last summer, about a 70 yard shot.

hunting every chance I got. There were some poor families that loved the groundhogs I killed. I would take whatever I killed and drop them off at the old folks homes. One of the old fellows loved them and told me they were all dark meat and tasted just like rabbit, but I never tried them, although I was tempted.

I was about 11 ... my Dad shot a groundhog and we ate it. I don't remember what it was like but, if Dad shot it, we usually ate it.

the middle or the end of April. I have gone out early a couple of times just as they are coming out of winter and shot one to eat. They are a dark meat and cooked on the BBQ pretty tough, no doubt a crock pot would help that. I have been asked what they taste like and I can't really compare them to anything. Just rock chuck.

prairie dogs. We only have a couple of months to hunt them. They tried to put a limit on them of 6 or so per day but that didn't paSS.

I've had it once, think it was boiled... was very tough
