I spent the morning sighting in a bunch of guns

consisting of 8 or 10 22 Magnum revolvers and semi autos. Each of the 22 Magnums have different likes and dislikes. My CZ 512, the semi auto 22 Magnum, as usual, shot 10 rounds in a group the size of a dime and never a falter. It loves the Hornady 45 grain Critical Defense ammo and does almost as good with other 22 Magnum ammo.

Many years ago, probably 1978, I bought an AMT 8" heavy barrel to fit on a Ruger MK 1 22 pistol. It has always been a good shooter so I fit a Leupold 4X scope on it and it shot pretty much all in one hole at 25. I use CCI mini Mags with this one.


I have one of the XTM 22 Magnum Rock Island pistols that is picky about ammo but as long as I use the heavier bullets it shoots like a champ. Like the CZ 512 it likes the Hornady Critical Defense. Every once in a while (like every 6 hours) I have a day when I don't need to be shooting. Today was one of those. The XTM shot a decent group in the 2 inch area and never faltered. The gun will shoot a 1 inch group with someone else shooting it. So I guess it was a good day with it.

I have a S&W model 48 in 22 Magnum. It has always shot a decent group so I added a 3X Burris scope to it and now it shoots sub 1 inch groups when or if I do my part.


I have a Ruger 77-22 in 22 Magnum that has always been a great shooter. I haven't shot it in a couple of years so I decided to make sure it is still a shooter. It has a scope on it and at 25 I can cover a 10 shot group with a dime. I had heard that Ruger was thinking of dropping it from the line up. Probably a rumor but if it is true they will be losing a great gun.

I shot my Peters/Stahl 22 LR long slide just to see if it is still a great shooter and it still is. It is not a target pistol as it shoots maybe an inch group with open sights but it is a great carry gun when in the field where I might need a finishing shot.


Several more centerfire handguns to shoot and a couple of rifles that will be my Saturday shooting session.
