is a myth but he was talking about 4000 foot pounds of energy as if it were the monster killer. The 585 Nyati puts out 10,300 foot pounds of energy. To me that is impressive and we built and sold quite a few years back. I have 5 screws in my right shoulder from the test firing. It also bloodies the nose just about every shot. The 454 Casull has a bit over 2000 foot pounds of energy and that's out of a handgun. A 444 or 45-70 both touch the 4000 foot pound mark with hot factory loads. So 4000 in a rifle is good talking power but not really much. A hundred years ago the old elephant hunters would have loved it but these days it ain't much.
