A day or so ago I showed my new 10mm long slide

which is a new 7" gun chambered in 10mm. A couple of folks on here asked about the AMT long slide. The question was asked if the AMT was also a 7" gun. I said yes and here are some pics of the AMT and my new 10mm.






I bought the AMT in 1978 as soon as they came out. I had a shop in Tennessee at the time and my gunsmith and I came up with some things I wanted added to it. My gunsmith whose name is Gary Case (which I thought unusual), is extremely talented and came up with his own version of porting. He milled a slot in the barrel and milled small slots in each side of the slide. This brought the recoil down to almost nothing. he came up with a cone shaped barrel that solved a lot of function problems.
Anyway over the next few years I shot a minimum of 70,000 rounds thru the gun in combat shooting. I kept track of my primers and thru all these rounds I never had a broken part and never replaced a single part in the gun. The AMT has proven to be an extremely fine 45. After I got out of combat shooting Kase used it for a couple of years until we built him and Colleen hi cap 38 Supers and they used them in the combat game for a few years. I dropped out after the people making up the rules said we could no longer use the word combat or we would be banished from the game and thrown out into the darkness to never shoot combat again.

The original combat game was done in the woods where we would run a course thru the woods and various targets would be hidden in the brush and you had to spot these targets and put 3 rounds into them. They were the colored targets of bad guys with guns in their hands and some no shoot good guys scattered among the other targets. We had 25 kill targets and 6 or 8 no kill targets like old ladies with a grocery bag in their hands. But that target might come up again a bit down the course but this time the little old lady had an Uzi under the grocery bag. So it taught us to think before we pulled the trigger. But that must have been too stressful to the rule makers so all that was dropped.

The game was thereafter to be called Action Shooting and we would stand in a 2 foot square spot and shoot at targets at various ranges. We then would trot our young asses to another square 10 feet away and commence to do the same thing over again. Sounds exciting doesn't it? I didn't like that and told them where they could push the new rules and they banished me forever into the darkness.

Back to the gun. The new 10mm is extremely accurate, a bit more so than the AMT but both are reliable and I can't think of anything I would change on the gun.
