A few years ago I made some friends with a family from China

The wife was very interested when she learned that I carried a gun all the time. I was able to help point her in the right direction and told her not to just learn to shoot and be safe, but to take classes. And she did! I received an email from her this morning:

Hi, Jim.

Just wanted to let you know that all those practice we did in firearms 101 class (technique, stance, how to hold and shoot a handgun) paid off. Johnathan and I both harvest our first deer this weekend. We are so excited! We now have two deer for the freezer!!

And as an extra bonus, I was able to put to practice what I learned from pistol class regarding target acquisition and shot a coyote on the run. The moment it stopped and turned sideway, I got him.

That is just too neat. The whole concept of firearms was completely foreign to her and her husband. That has all changed.

Here is a photo she sent me from a class she was taking. She is a little thing .. can't weigh 90 pounds soaking wet.

Fantastic!

that just tickles my heart. From ignorance to proficiency! Gotta love it!

Very good Jim. Now if you can teach me to shoot a handgun

You have to start by watching every GUNSMOKE show.

Then read only the articles about Tactical Equipment in gun magazines. While doing that you must order the latest in camouflage clothing and purchase camouflage tape to cover your guns.

After you have done that for a year or so, get on the internet and argue with people about what the best guns are, what the best ammo is, how far they will shoot, and be sure to use technical language like "headspace" and "barrel twist" and "foot pounds" .. even if you have never looked them up.

After a few years of that you might even want to buy a gun.

I started watching some of the TV shows

in hopes of learning something. One that really taught me something was about these 3 guys. I can't remember the name of the show but the 3 men were Curly, Larry and Moe. They were really talented. One didn't even have to use a gun. he just hit the other 2 in the head with his fist. I know you are a member of a 3 man group. I think you could really learn from them. I'll keep you posted.

A three-man group .... yep.
