Some of you will remember a few years back when we

had a series of Marlin custom lever guns with the black stock and forend. At the time they weren't that popular so we dropped the idea after maybe a dozen guns were made and sold. Now if you have one you have a gold mine. On Gunbroker the 1895 Marlins have a "Dark" model and prices are running $3000 to over $4000. Most are the older pre-Ruger guns that people are buying up from individuals and having the stock and forend blackened and the barrel and receiver blued.Plus they have the "JM" stamp which they are telling people that means they are special guns, even though all Marlins back then had the JM proof mark. Even the new Ruger/Marlins 1895 model in the blue finish are jacked up to over $4000. One of my guys bought one of the new Ruger Marlins in stainless over the weekend and paid $1200 for it. It is shown on Gunbroker at prices up to $3500 or more. Crazy stuff and all these new guns have the AR-15 furniture on them, so now those in California and other liberal states where the AR is not legal you can have an AR look alike in the Marlin 1895 with all the same furniture and accessories.
