Got some meat for the freezer this past Saturday.

Had some Underwood 255 hard cast +p I was wanting to put to the test.
But, he wouldn't come close enough for me to comfortably use it. So, the old Savage 270 I've had for 30 years or so got the nod.

The old 270 will be put away and the 30/30 or 35 Remington will be running backup now.

Could hear him walking, scraping and rubbing well before daylight. He came up out of a thicket of big Holly trees, nasty thick in there. He wasn't going to hang around long, was about 40-50 yards walking away from me, fogged the back of the scope up and had to wipe it clear in a hurry (buck fever) lol. Waited about 30 min before I went and checked, thought I missed , no blood , hair , nothing! I was thinking no way I missed, but wouldn't be the first or last time ha ha. So, I just stood where he was and looked around for a minute, and saw him laying under a Holly bush about 10 yards away. Didn't realize just how big a bodied ol buck he was till I found him.
Sure am glad Ethan was there to help drag him out!

Would have been awesome for him to be my first handgun whitetail!
But, he is the biggest I've ever had the opportunity to harvest.
