How about a .327 federal-based family of cartridges

The .327 starts with a little more capacity than the Hornet family, has thicker, more available brass, that is easier to form and that should last longer and could accept longer projectiles in the SRH cylinder.

A .327 necked to .25 caliber with the canonical 60 gr JSP 25-20 bullet should work well. Similar to your 250 GNR, but based on the more powerful .327 rather than 32 mag. I imagine a .243 version should work equally well.

Freedom Arms already did the .224 version years ago.
