My .30 WCF tinkering...

I can't mount the forward base screw because of the difference in threads on pre-64 vs post-64 M94's. The earlier guns use the obsolete #11-32 threads on the "finger lever pin retention screw" and later guns use the today common 12-32. I cannot find any thread die new or old for 11-32 with a O.D. of 0.197". A common 10-32 is 0.0190". I might try a 10-32 bolt then get a die to re-thread the #11 to a #10 if only 0.003" on each side of the OD is the difference. Only three or four threads hold it anyway. Maybe just maybe it's enough to hold a little.

In the meantime I cleaned the receiver with alcohol and "glued" the base on with 5-min. epoxy and used the rearward two mounting screws. I've done stuff like this before and it worked. It might this time too. I left it untrimmed so you could see the epoxy if I showed it. The stuff comes off pretty easy if you need it to. It is such a crazy thing to mount the scope off to the side like that anyway. The old K4 Weaver might not have enough adjustment to sight it in. I want to tinker and see what I can get done with cast bullets. I'm motivated by Jim whacking gongs in front of witnesses at 1100 yds. with his iron sighted pocket .30-30. I'm just after good 100 yd. groups.

This diversion has all the buttons I need pushed. A challenge, some history, casting, reloading, scrounging odd bits. It's my harmless fun.
