We may have winter here in Texas sooner or later
so I've been getting ready for it. This was today's work.

I've got it all stacked now. It's 66 degrees today, supposed to hit 70 tomorrow.
Our weatherman is drunk today, No snow yet this year but a
dusting of a few inches last month. Last year this time we had had over 8 feet of snow and Mutha Nature was just getting started. Our temps linger around 5 degrees at night and 30s during the day but the snow has yet to make an appearance,but I shouldn't whine and gripe as it could still and probably will be a real toad strangler of a winter with feet of water when all the snow melts.
Looking at the wood you cut?, chopped, and stacked, what did you do the other 8 hours of the day? If you went out and popped a cap on a crow or other obnoxious critter then you are excused.
Our hydraulic splitter is down so I spli these by hand.

You are more man than this honky. If my splitter went
bonkers that would not be a good day for this old boy. I try to keep 2 cords in full 18" sections ready to split and around 4 cords split and in racks in my garage. I bought an electric splitter from Home Depot probably 20 years or more ago and it has never failed me.

The only problem is getting it off a stand I built for it and putting it on the floor to check the fluids. It weighs a bit over 100 lbs. Getting it down is not a real problem but getting up on that stand that is nearly 4 feet high can be a real pain. I guess I should invest in another but not really sure whether I should get another electric model or gas. Should the chit hit the fan, which would be harder to get, the electricity or the gas? Got to give that a bit more
thought.
The hydraulic pump went out on ours
and since it is a home-made one, been having problems finding a replacement. My son-in-law thinks he has located one.
But, I got most of the wood cut to lengths and I take my time splitting it. I ain't as good as I once was ... and when it comes to splitting wood and a few other things I ain't even good as I was once!
Most of this wood splits easy. A couple whacks and it pops apart. The harder stuff I set aside and use the chain saw to cut it into smaller pieces.
