411 JDJ
Anyone here familiar with the 411 JDJ? I have alot of TC contender stuff and through a purchase to get a gen1 frame- it came with what I can figure to be a 411 JDJ Barrel. original TC 41 Mag barrel with a -444 stamp behind the 41. looks like a decent barrel. Anyone have dies willing to sell? or if not does anyone have interest in the barrel?
That is a bit tricky if you don't have the special custom
reloading dies. Having some made would be too costly. You could "neck size" some .444 brass to fit the chamber carefully wielding a .41 Mag. die set. Then firing them to fit well, taking care afterward to ONLY neck size them using standard .41 Mag. sizer. Tinkering with different dies you can get something to work as a seat die. No need to crimp.
JD's guys might know where some actual dies are to be found.
You can start smaller such as .375 JDJ and "fire form" using a blank loaded round. I've had all sorts of fun tinkering like that. Where there is a will, there is a way. I have even shot some old Ballard rifle bullets as heavy .41 cal. bullets from revolvers. They would do well in a single shot. Why JD went with such a powerful .41 with limited bullet options. Ditto with Marlin and the .444. Firing jacketed pistol bullets so fast will blow up on a deer. The Hornady 265 saved the day with the.444.
