I’m helping a young man I work with…

Teaching him, and others interested, how to reload. He proudly came to show me his .44 Mag. revolver. He had only fired it a few times. .44 factory ammo running at least $1 per shot. I told him shooting cast reloads we can drop that to 20-25 cents or so per round.

The gun is a very pretty (huge) Interarms Virginian Dragoon 7-1/2”. Blue with pretty case colors, and bright plum toned grip frame. Under the nice walnut one piece grips it’s marked “We the People 1776-1976”, a bicentennial model. The lock work is timed perfectly and has a most pleasing Colt type click-click click-click feel and sound. It looks bigger than a Super Blackhawk but maybe it’s me. I remember Alcorn telling me about one he scored not long ago. Some special or rare model. This example my friend has is probably the most common version.

Looking more closely I found the boy’s gun did not have a rear sight blade! He didn’t even know it had one or was missing. He just used the u-notch on the assembly, I guess it worked well for elevation at least! Lol The screw and spring are there but no blade. It seems a Ruger blade will fit. I had a V-notch blade but the boy likes a white outline one I have better to match the white dot front ramp. If I can get the pesky thing out of the Redhawk assy.! It takes some fiddling to overpower the tiny spring and lift out, without scratching it.
