Reeder Custom Guns - Recently a customer brought in a Weatherby rifle

that he had shipped to a friend for a hunt. To keep the gun safe in shipping he sprayed the gun case full of the yellow sealing foam. The type of foam that expands to about 5 times it's normal size to seal up cracks. Now the gun is covered with that foam that has hardened to a rock hard substance. I don't know if there is a way to get it off the gun or if the gun is destroyed. Any suggestions?

Acetone should dissolve all the stuff on the metal parts. Acetone will pretty much trash a wooden stock.

Not what you get at the store, but at Home Depot or paint store. May be safe on stock?!

and if it was me, I would try gasoline .. just little bit in one area .. to see if it will dissolve the foam seal. No do not light it! Just drip a little on it and see what it does.

15 years ago I bought display cabnets custom built for my gun shop. Glass on top and fronts of cabnets had tape across all of the glass panels. I didn’t remove the tape soon enough and the adhesive had to be removed. I used WD-40 rubbing it off with a rag after sraying WD-40 on the adhessive. Worked like a charm. I think it would be worth try. It may be a might friendlier to wood than petroleum products. I beleive the WD-40 is made from fish oil.
