Forecast says it will be 14 degrees by morning. We have our house off the grid right now, running the generator and making sure everything is working OK. We got the chicken coop tightened up and a heater in place .. covered all the outside water faucets ... have firewood in and ready ... and in case anyone gets snake bit we have some fine Scotch whiskey on hand.

We are at -8 now heading to-14 by morning. Ass biting cold.

dog house and added another heat lamp. She will no doubt get some inside time too, poor beast. I do need to add another heat lamp in the chicken coup. I'm filling a couple propane 20 lb. cylinders just in case. I don't like being cold.

I thought of tacking up some reflective heat blankets (mylar) to the stall walls. If the goats wouldn't teat it off it would really reflect all their body heat and be a wonderful place to bed.

A fellow made a tent lean-to with the mylar then had clear sheeting in front, sealing it mostly. A small fire a safe distance away allowed passage of the energy through the plastic sheeting and the mylar reflected it. A sort of sauna in the woods. By golly it worked. It simply proved the validity and reflective qualities of that plastic space blanket stuff. With some creativity I think it could help in the barn or dog house outside.

WE GOT DUMPED ON!
