Do you have a .357? What's your favorite?

Despite D.B. Wesson's exploits, I fear it a little on the marginal side for deer of any notable size. But it can work, hogs too. Fun to shoot an load for. 173-200 gr. bullets really wake it up.

This is mine. (and I have several other .357's) I sent it to Gary for conversion to .356 GNR. For some reason it got a "full custom conversion" with new barrel and all hand fitting. The action and fittment is astonishing. Tight and as slick as humanly possible. The accuracy is way beyond what I can use. Adding some custom cylinders was icing on the cake. It was a fleeting idea that just happened, for a fabulous result. Note it's flat top and recoil shield scalloping. D&T for scope too, should I get the urge. Some custom guns just look basically stock, only superficially refinished. This ain't one of those. To do it again I'd spec. a 6", not 6.5", just to set it apart even more. But I have no regrets.

The .357 Maximum Chamber Pressure set by SAAMI is 35,000 PSI. If you load it to the original pressures when it was first developed you get a little more out of it. But that should be done in heavy frame guns only.

Anymore I don't run them that hard and most of the time I am shooting .38 Special loads. Easier on powder and lead and not so much blast.

Early loads were in brass that used a Large Pistol Primer.

4, 6, and 8” barrels. 8” is scoped. Great shooting revolver!!

I’ll never forget my first 6” M15 DW.

Arguably DW revolvers were the most accurate normal production wheelguns. The added forward lock on the cylinder crane, barrel torque at the muzzle, no pinched threads. Features that really enhanced accuracy. S&W and Ruger both took note and now incorporate some successful DW features (crane locking and shrouded barrels) The large frame guns are really something else!

I sure wish they’d start production once again. They had an under appreciated winner. My first one rivaled the Colt Python in accuracy. Even with the coil spring lock work the trigger was very useable. It was just too different for mainstream guys until they tried it.

A DW Pistol Pac that I wouldn't part with.

If it was not done by a machine someone went through a pile of needles. I love Colts, but not working on them. Very complex, the older ones except the SAA, comparatively.
