It was an earlier time. The Trooper MKIII was a good solid gun, just not as refined as it looked. Colt made guns to make a profit. The Trooper was a cash cow for them. I paid $265 for mine, a Python was $450. Minimum wage was $2.15 per hr. I think the Trooper's selling success was instrumental in the production of the L-frame and later GP100 too. A bigger chassis .357 was needed. Colt had that right, if only by accident.
