I have friends who live in Truckee, CA. About the same LOTS of snow. I guess folks and infrastructure is set up for it. Not me, not right now. I'm humping warm water to the goats, chicken, and dog 2x a day. It was 3 deg., sheltered out of the wind, this morning.

get the items necessary to survive in this weather. First before you move here you need to remember that Arizona is not all desert. My Dad to his dying day told me time and time again "I don't know why you wanted to move to a damn desert".
Northern Arizona is snow country and a lot of snow too. Our winter is October 15 thru June 1st, sometimes a bit longer. Three years ago it snowed on the 4th of July. It didn't stick but it sure snowed like crazy for a couple of hours. If you don't handle snow day after day then stay in Phoenix once you figure out how to survive in 130 degree temps every day. When it hits 70 degrees in Phoenix people wear heavy coats and ear muffs.
I have lived in pretty much every part of the U.S. When I was in radio for almost 25 years I moved about every 2 or 3 years, In radio if you are decent you get offers from other stations and if the money is right you pack up the wife and kids and move, sometimes a move is 2000 miles.
Anyway, I have lived in just about every part of the U.S. and I have yet to see the perfect place to live. It is probably there but I haven't found it yet.

Only about 3 inches of snow, but it is slick. A fellow and his wife crashed their new F250 a couple miles up the road. He's gone (59) and she's in ICU (aged 47). A boy at work flipped his truck up on it's side yesterday, slid off the interstate, hit a culvert. He's OK. Not too many other crashes. Main roads cleared up some today. More Rough weather due Thursday.

Worst part for us is keeping the animals in warm water. Three different pens. We just haul water out twice a day, put it in rubber pans so we can break out ice. Have not figured out a good de-icer for them watering without burning down the barn.

I can imagine so cold. A guy on the net showed motor oil, both clean and dirty after overnight at -30. The dirty was worse but the clean was the consistency of honey! It’s not oiling your upper valve train when you try to start an engine! I don’t know what you do short of starting a fire under it.

Those must be one of the tricks. Sounds good for cold.

I've never had one. Always used block heaters
