Dug one out of the safe…

Doug did some good work with the .429 GNR single shot Encore. He took several animals, hog and sheep. His was a longer 14-15” barrel with brake. We were running a Lee 310 FNGC at 1900 fps.

At one HHC when my son met Puffy, he brow beat me into taking advantage of a bargain and get this barrel Roman fancied. Roman loved Puffy instantly, Prince of the party. Being me I took heat from Roman later at my unconventional choice of optics. Getting a 30mm DDT all steel set up is not a walk in the park. On close-out I purchased (3) new old stock, excellent, Tasco “World Class” 2x22 LER scopes for $100 total! They were special glass recticle with cross bar and three dots, for bows. But hey he wasn’t paying for it, and optic set ups are not cheap, it works great and we have some long ranging aim points!

Gary called this set-up the Pirate barrel guns. Its engraved on the muzzle end . Barrel is a full 1” diameter with the special inverted cone crown. I never knew the length, it’s 7-3/4”. Seating to the single shot’s ample throating it will push our SSK 330 gr. TC bullets over 1650 fps and 2000 fpe. I was experimenting with a single point shoulder sling/brace aid and swivel. It’s worth some more testing for field shooting. It’s handy at less than a foot long and about 4 lbs. Recoil is lively but not abusive. Impressive for a hunting handgun that will shoot a good sized hole through about anything, at any angle, bones and all! A bit unusual, but effective and practical, like the Misfits that frequent those seasonal events.
