This one may take a miracle to bring back to life

larry Hurth brought in a Colt SAA 38 Special today for us to bring back to life. We may be able to do so but it will take some doing. The barrel got bent up a few thousandths plus bent to the left about that much. Somebody tried to beat it back into shape and in doing so bent the frame upward in a slight hump..Every part of the gun shows deep marks and gouges where it was beaten and bent in a vise.

The gun is a 38 Special but if we can salvage it we will put a new barrel on it in 44 Special as the current barrel is chrome lined which I have never seen before.

due to the beating it took the base pin is sitting at an angle and causes the cylinder to sit crooked.

So this one is going to be a doozy.

Wow .... that thing was really abused ..

We had an old Colt .45 that had been stepped on by a horse. The frame was bent enough that at 100 yards it hit about 10 feet to one side. We just shot it that way and learned where to hold. :-)

I looked the serial number up and it was made in 1957

I had never seen a chrome lined barrel on a Colt SAA so that was what had me stumped. I didn't realize anyone chrome lined any barrels in 1957.
Anyway it is going to take some special work to get it back to usable.

I have never seen that either.
