NEW RUGER .45

I have an AR-9 and it is a real hoot but not as handy as some of the other offerings. The Kel-Tec I had, a first generation, was too flimsy. The others may be better. I like the S&W's version and the Ruger is no doubt great too.

While 9mm is fun and actually capable of taking small deer, a more powerful "blow-back" carbine would be useful too. That action type is simple but limited in load variables. You need to stick to it's design range as to bullet weights and pressures. You sure don't want the action opening while pressures are still high.

I had a hang fire due to faulty primers with my .401 Winchester SL and the action initially popped open, then fired. It blew the case head. As soon as the case was breached the remaining powder fizzled with a flame. It totally freaked me out, but harmed nothing but a modified .41 Remington case. We used to shoot old Commando Arms .45 ACP Tommy gun clones and they had a satisfying thump. If the action type would allow I'd love one in 10mm Auto. I even once tried a .40 S&W Hi-Point. It shot 2" 50 yd. groups and functioned 100%, throwing a 180 gr. JHP at 1100+ fps. Of all people, a Cop friend had me special order it for him. I called it a "Crack-head Carbine" but it actually shot great, I had to eat a little Crow on that one.
