lost quite a few good friends thru the last few years and wish I had done the spring HHC when I had a chance. Of the 65 people that made the September HHC probably 30 were close friends. The other 30 or 35 were new folks. People often ask why we do the same thing every year. It's not the hunt. It's the chance to spend 3 days with good friends. There isn't an animal at the HHC that I haven't taken at least 3 or 4 of. So it isn't just the hunt, it is spending some time with old friends. Folks like Larry Farley, who I started hunting groundhogs with in Tennessee in the early 70s. Puffy was another. He and I had hunted all over the world before he died. Ray Massey was another. He had been a good friend for almost 30 years before he died a while back. He came to as many of the HHCs that he could.

Lee Jurras had been a good friend since the mid 70s and he was the main reason I retired from radio and got into what I do now. Lee was one of the finest shots I ever saw and knew more about guns than anyone I ever met. Lee was the Super Vel ammo man and the main man behind the Auto Mag. We knew he had cancer and was going fast yet it was a shock when I got the call that he was gone.

And the list goes on. A lot of newer friends like Alcorn Russell. Alcorn has been a good friend for maybe 10 years but the only time I get to see the old goat is at the HHCs.He has hunted all over the world with me just as Puffy and Larry did and quite a few of the regulars did also. New friends like Erik Stenberg, Blake Naugle, Ray Shepard,Winn Turner, Scotty Boggs and so many more.

Old friends are something special. There are a lot of you regulars that are new but hopefully you will make one or both of the upcoming hunts, either in May the 2nd thru 5th or the September hunt, the 26th thru the 29th. join us.
