We are working on booking an African hunt

in late July. I have a handful of hunters so far but I need about 6 or 7 more to book the lodge. We hunt in South Africa as that is the only place to use our handguns. Not sure exactly where we will be hunting yet but should know as soon as I book the hunt.

If you have ever wanted to hunt in Africa this is your chance. Africa, contrary to what most people think, is not an expensive hunt. Probably half of an Alaska hunt and in Africa you only pay for what you kill, whereas in Alaska if you hunt for a Brown Bear for 2 weeks but never even see one you still pay the $24,000 or more for the hunt. In Africa on our hunts you pay a daily rate that covers everything except the animal you shoot. The daily rate is normally $450 a day but we are getting a special rate as we usually do. Our price is right at $350 a day. And to book the hunt your deposit is half of your 8 day daily rate which runs around $1800.

This will be my 17th hunt in Africa and I can't wait to go back. Africa is such a great place to hunt. You see hundreds of animals a day and your PH will make sure you get trophy animals.We hunt with Madubula Safaris and John Abraham.

In Africa we ride around in Land Cruiser trucks, usually 2 to 3 hunters per truck. The PH will know what you are looking for and he will work to find that animal for you. Most of the areas we hunt are in the 100,000 to 200,000 acres.

In Africa you will see hundreds of animals a day of all species. Usually large herds of Zebra, Gemsbok, Impala, Blesbok and a lot more.

In Africa you can take 3 or 4 African animals and them plus your daily rate will usually run under $10,000. And that is for a full weeks hunting (usually I book for 8 days) plus 3 or 4 typical African animals. Like I mentioned last night if you took an Impala at $700, a warthog at $600, a Blesbok at $700, a Blue Wildebeest at $800, a Springbok at $700, that works out to $3500 for your animals. Now I haven't seen the prices for the animals yet as they are set by the government over there but let's say I missed on the animal prices and add another $1500 to the prices for the animals and that makes $5000. Figure in your daily rates for 8 days at $2800 then your total is a lot less than a non resident would pay for a bull elk tag out here in Arizona The only other expense is a bit of a tip for your PH and your hunting license which is minimal. Plus you don't have to pay for everything while you are there. Usually about 2 weeks after you get back John Abraham's wife Lauri will e-mail you with your total and you have a month or so to pay it off. As far as the airfare Colleen just checked and according to when you book it runs from $1700 to $2000. That still keeps a whole 8 days hunting in Africa under $10,000.
