I once lost a "Jennings" .22 new in box at a gun show

I figured someone palmed it off my table or a dealer before opening. Dealers often walk around before opening as a perk to do some pre-show trading. Overnight security is provided but we only cover the tables with a sheet until we arrive. Plenty of opportunity for a dishonest to do their deed. But why a $40 dealer cost Jennings? I pondered that.

It did not bother me too much. Except in an ATF audit and no yellow sheet or book entry of exit! THAT bothered me. The $0 was nothing in comparison.

Long story short... Almost a year to the day, same venue. I found the box with the Jennings in it under my truck seat in a very obscure crevice. It had fallen out and vibrated there in transport. Then that time my wife left a Jennings .22, nylon UM bag, and mini mag-light in a hotel room 150 miles away. Long gone. Long ways from a Reeder custom though! Thankfully my lessons are cheap.
