Small but graphic proof of concept, flat tip RF

Found this old photo. The most anemic example of the flat tip mod for RF ammo. The 29 gr. .22 Short from a 4" revolver. About 700-800 fps, if I remember right. The removal of a few grains did not make a notable increase in velocity, for reference. For reference my gas-piston Crossman air rifle shoots a 20 gr. pellet at 750 fps! It's a small test but fairly controlled conditions, same ammo, same medium, distance, gun etc. You can see that the hole in teh cake soap bar is twice the size from the top, flat-tip modded, round. The only change is that flat tip! Gary's tool for uniforming this change is certainly worthy of the effort. I see several ammo companies have adopted their own flat point ammo for RF. They market it as special game or even self-defense rimfire. It sure changes the energy transfer for the better terminal performance.
