I actually make .401 Winchester Self Loading rifle rounds from .414 SM cases. Basically the same round but I have to mod the rims into "semi-rimmed" cases to fit the magazines. Bullets are supposed to be 0.406-0.408" for Winchesters, not .410 like revolvers. I can't get too crazy with the loads or stray from the factory bullet weights as it is a "blow-back" action. I do not want to turn it into a "blow-up" version. lol
Elgin Gates was instrumental in it's origins for IHMSA. It is also called the 10.5x41R by the Euro folks. Plus it shoots .41 Special or .41 Remington just fine too. A neat custom.
