Gary, I think I like your 7 GNR more every
time I use it.
Took it again this afternoon for a quick chuck shoot. Wanted to check a couple spots to see if anybody else had been there, didn't look like it. Normal numbers in the second place, and that is where I killed four. Only pictures of two of them, the others fell deep into the concrete piles.
The first spot had chucks running all over, numbers are up. Ill save that one for when my Son and G'son can join me.
Jason is just getting a 240 Raptor going that he got from a member here. I am very anxious to see it work.
Again the 7 GNR was shooting 133 gr. cast hollow point bullets and some 3031. Ranges today were from about 50 to 75 yards.
One of these years I will use it for deer, but as long as I keep getting shot to 70 yards and under it's the 455 GNR.

The 7 GNR has been one of the most popular
calibers ever since we came up with it.
I can see why.

I do not have a 7mm mould yet but
I've been wanting to try the 6mm bore casting. It has a bit of a reputation for being a bit difficult, perhaps that is more due to the .243 cartridge than the actual caliber. I've not worked with .243 much myself other than some shooting with a very limited number of different loads. My 6mm Ackley rifle seems a peach to work with.
In handguns my focus is the .240 Raptor and .240 Banshee (to a lesser extent, due to easily available moulds). I have a RCBS 6mm FN mould that is either 95 or 105 grs. that I like the looks. I lack only the gas checks (not that easy to find) and time.
In both 6 and 7mm calibers there are some funky looking cast moulds with tons of lube grooves up the sides. I never liked those but they may shoot good. All of them are either RN or semi-pointy, which I do not favor.
If you are not shooting it in a lever action the
semi-pointed would be perfect.

Since thhat's mostly what's available. The LEE makes a 130 gr. semi-RNGC 7mm that is so cheap it's hard to pass up. There is not much out there for .243 cal. Really not lighter like I wish for the .240 Banshee. I'll have to go custom mould.
The .25 cal. has lots of .25-20 WCF possibilities.
This is the one I chose for the 7 GNR.
From Al at NOE a 288-135-FN. It comes with three different tip configurations. A 140 gr. solid, a 136 gr. penta point and a 133 gr. traditional type hollow point. These weights are with my alloy, but I don't think they would vary much with any different alloy. I shoot pretty much only the round deep HP pin.

And it's a fair to middling shooter.
