Back in late '91 and early '92 we had a custom revolver we called the Slammer. It was a 3" snubbie 44 Special based on a Taurus. The gun was slicked up, smooth double action with a bobbed hammer but not too light to give you misfires in a bad situation. It is a 5 shot double action revolver, satin stainless. We built 8 or 10 of them but they weren't a good seller. Back in '91 or '92 not that many people carried guns. Things were different back then. Not so much crime and not a realistic reason to carry a gun 24/7.
This gun was the prototype of the series and is marked Prototype. The old gentleman that had it seldon shot it and for some reason he changed the grips on it. The compact grip that we put on them isn't made today so we couldn't go back to the original looks of the Slammer. My only thing about it that I don't like is the hole on the left side is slightly obvious. Not sure what the hole is there for but Taurus put it there so it was for some reason.
I cleaned up the gun and shot 20 rounds thru it. It is very accurate and a smooth shooter. I shot some fairly hot 44 Specials in it and it did great. The gun feels so good in the hand I thought about keeping it, but I can't keep them all.
A good double action 44 Special these days would run you somewhere around $1300 to $1400. I have this beauty priced at $895.
