It's rip off time. One of our 2 Gun Shows is going

on this weekend. And what a rip off it is. They were pricing well used rifles at $600 to $800, no scopes. handguns like a 3rd generation Cold Woodsman for $1000.S&W model 41 , decent condition, $1600. And so on. The problem with our gun shows is that a majority of the folks that pay $11 to get in are older and know nothing about guns. They see something they like so they call a friend and ask him if the gun is worth the inflated price. The problem is the friend is normally gun
dumb too.
It's a shame that the folks behind the tables are rip off and that gives all gun guys a bad name.

The last gun show I went to here in Texas was the same.

Except I found one guy who was selling Winchester Pistol primers, both large and small, for $50 a thousand. He got my business.

I will have to give credit where I can.

Our price as of this past week from our distributors is now $89 per thousand which includes all the special add ons that we have to pay. Powder has also hit the ceiling with several of the brands hitting $55 dealer price which includes the haz mat and shipping charges. Which puts it on the shelf at $69 per one pound jug. We try to keep it as low as we can without cutting our own throats.

I know the costs are increasing as our dollar shrinks ...

and to be fair, it was last year when I went to that gun show. But that guy was the only one there that seemed honest to me.

On the topic of Gun Shows....

The last time I attended a gun show was about 8 years ago. Truthfully I do not need anything, when I see something I may want it, but need is not the operative word. This was a large event in a larger city, parking was costly along with the fee at the door. To their credit they did offer free entrance to Vets. Everything I saw was inflated by about 20%, there were no bargains. The sum total of stated firearms experts was astounding and the collection of tactical was equally impressive. To each their own and I left with all of my money intact in search of the quality local gun store. I have not been to a gun show since and have no desire to.

Sorta my experience ...

the last gun show I attended was overrun with black rifles and plastic pistols. There were only two vendors in the entire show that had revolvers and older guns.

I haven’t been to a gun show for a very long time, too much

get in to see inflated prices on mostly junk. What happened to showing the old Colts and Smiths and Lugers? Yes, I am getting old and crotchety.

Guns shows have always been inflated prices

you go in figuring on some heavy duty haggling or trading. But the price of everything has about doubled. A bag of Cheetos is $6! A good pickup truck is $60k, almost double what I paid for my old house and 10 acres circa 1988 ($37k)!

It's difficult to find a used Blackhawk of any caliber or flavor for less than $500. How many old models did I buy for $275-$300 or so! Now built into Custom Reeder's.

We bought our first house in 1975

and gave $24,000 for it on an acre of ground. And had sleepness nights worrying about borrowing so much money!

My SUV in ‘04 cost the same as house & 10 ac in ‘88.

I still got them both! But they also are a bit war torn with time and life. I plan on continuing to use them too. New just costs too much and I don’t think the quality is as good.
