I had to click and take a peek at the new .22 Creedmore. Seemingly a sort of .22-08, if you will. Sounds pretty neat, a 0.485 BC 80 gr. VLD at 3300 fps. But in my battery there is a 30 yr. old project rifle, the "Blue" gun as we call it around home. It's an ancient BRNO 98 action custom that has been an 8mm, .243 Win., and now is a 6mm Ackley Improved. Last work was honing the 24" stainless fluted bore that was as rough as a cob. No wonder it was on closeout sale! Looking over my notes it is capable of pushing a Hornady 105 gr. VLD with a B.C. of 0.530 (!) to the same 3300 fps. About the same as the .240 Weatherby Magnum, but with lots less powder. The AI is a blown out and necked down 7x57 after all, and the .240 Wby. is basically an improved-belted, necked, .30-06!

I guess I'll forgo the $2500 upgrade to the latest and greatest. Marketing is a tough job, I'm empathetic to those guys. More power to them.
