Random .44 Magnum Thoughts
From what I have read on this forum, and others the .44 magnum is plenty of gun for most, if not all north american game.
Sure, there's larger calibers. .475 and .500 Linebaugh, .500 S&W among others. The .44 is probably the limit for most people and is not the easiest gun to master. There are guys, some on here that can effectively handle the larger calibers.
I have had and still have a .44 magnum, plus a .454 Casull, which I can attest to that the recoil is brutal, to me anyway.
I bought the .454 on a whim, I walked into Cabela's, they had it, I wanted it and I walked out with it. My master plan was to sell it to someone in Alaska where they are popular with the bear guides, that never happened and I still have it.
Just an opinion but I would have to agree that the
44 magnum is usually, if not always enough gun for all
north american game. Would I feel more comfortable with something bigger in Alaska, maybe, maybe not.
