It’s an experiment, helping (?!) a friend out

As mentioned this mount is one for the 10-1/2" barrel model applied to a 8" gun. The piece laying atop the barrel is actually spun around backward in this application. That piece is supposed to position at the back of the front sight ramp to assist the clamp from climbing forward under recoil. Not being able to use it here, I applied it to stiffen the mounting horizontally. There is a groove atop the piece for see-through sighting too. I hand notched a slot to allow the front of the clamp to just touch the base of the front ramp, duplicating the original design intent.

The whole rig looks a bit suspect but I have used B-Square mounts before on odd things like military bolt rifles, M1-A, Mini-14, and 1911. While they look like odd designs they are always well thought out and work well. But this one is modified AND a .44 Magnum. I think we will try it with lighter loads, it does not take much to kill a 100 lb. Whitetail. Some 200 gr. JHP at about 1200 fps sounds like the optimal medicine for this new shooter. This china red dot is much lighter than a proper scope optic too. If it will just hold together and not sling the battery out!
