in his early years. He played back up for Buddy Miles plus several others like the Wicked Pickett shown in the pic below. Buddy Miles is known to be a yoyo that convinced Hendrix to go back to his roots and do more black music. Hendrix did a couple of albums that pretty much flopped before he got smart and went back to doing his thing. And he was left handed. He said he couldn't find a good guitar for lefties so he switched the strings top to bottom and was actually playing normally but holding the guitar left handed.
Hendrix was very smart music wise, and died way too early. he was among a small group of music folks that died during a small period of time. That included Jim Morrison, Mama Cass and Hendrix. Hendrix and Morrison both died from drug abuse and Mama Cass checked to death on a sandwich. There were a couple more in the music world that died during that time that I can't remember.
Morrison was a sicko. He was arrested several times for being a pervert, on stage waving his wanger at little girls among other things.

she was a member of Big Brother & the Holding Company. I was working at a radio station in Paducah and she and her band were playing across the river in Illinois. I had no idea who she was but she was a good singer.
Later on I talked to a member of her band and he said the same thing that she was too good to last. Janis' problem was she wasn't good looking, even if I was half drunk, she was still homely. On a scale of 1 to 10 she rated a 6 but only if I was drinking. And being homely she did things to get people to like her. That included drugs. She mixed booze and drugs and as they had less and less effect on her the doses got larger. She was still great on stage but was a mess in her personal life. She would jump in the sack with anyone that acted like they cared for her.
When I heard that Janis had over dosed it hurt because I sort of knew it was coming. She didn't deserve that. We lost more than a singer when Janis died.
That was a sad story that was played to

There was a whole group of performers who died at 27 years of age, including Morrison, Janis, and Hendrix. Sad, indeed, but not too surprising.
Guy looks familiar . . .
