I had one like that, but wood stock. Bought the used Ruger barrel off Ebay for like $50. I tried to see if they would swap and keep the scope zero but they didn't quite keep it, but it got pretty close. Only minimal adjustments needed to get the scope dead on again. But with the .17 HMR barrel (2600 fps) or .22 WMR tube (2000-2100 fps) it used the same magazines just fine.
