The temperatures are finally dropping, at least in the mornings, enough to get out and chase some bushytails. Not a lot of movement yesterday morning. Only saw five and was able to connect on two. First time I got the Double Deuce out in the field.

Haven't had a chance to hunt squirrels in WAY too long. Here's some from a "few" years ago. I used a rifle some that year too, but did much better with the old model SS.

On this particular farm there are probably ten fox squirrels for every one gray squirrel. I only saw one fox squirrel yesterday.

where I shot those fox squirrels there were very few grays. I think I got a ratio of about three or four fox per gray squirrel bagged.

Then my Colombian wife and sister-in-law made a Brazilian dish with US squirrels. A good time was had by all. Except the squirrels, but they didn't complain.

Never been in a spot to hunt squirrels, but it does look like it could be fun.

When the squirrels jump from limb to limb it makes the water on the leaves fall and shows me where they are. Especially the big fox squirrels. Out here we have the big Kaibab squirrels. About the same size as the fox squirrels but they have a solid white tail and long tufted ears.

The Asians go out in caravans on opening day of the season. By the end of the week it is a very thing to find a squirrel. It is also very busy for wardens giving out citations for shooting from a vehicle, loaded weapon in a vehicle and shooting from the road.

works here and is reputed to be an asian and has relatives in California told me his relatives in L.A. will give me $50 to $100 for any squirrel I take to them. Supposely a squirrel will do the same for me as a Rhino horn will. That is why the Asian caravans are all over come squirrel season.
