Can't fault any man on his .22 choices.

Marin made millions of rifles and variations on that platform (Model 60). Then High Standard loosely copied them as well. They are serviceable and historically valid for sure. But I never really liked them because the trigger and fire control parts are attached to the wood stock and not the action. It works obviously. But it's just me. I also liked the Ruger Rimfire 77 series but the serious guys poo-poo'd them due to the "two-piece" bolts. The trigger needed work but I like them.

Bottom line if it shoots good and you like it, that's what it's about. A man needs to enjoy what he uses. CZ anything is a real shooter from what I've seen.

From my boyhood most .22's manage around 2" groups at 50 yds. An exceptional one will shoot an inch or under at 50. The ammo of the day may have been a limiting factor as well. We shot lots of Remingtons around here. 550's and 552's, Nylons. They usually did 2" groups at 50. Love the Nylons and had a M10 as a kid (they made 11's & 12's as well). I always wanted a Nylon 76, never even seen one in the flesh. The 66's were a delight as long as you NEVER took them apart. I still have Remingtons (550, 33 etc.). I DO have a modern 10/22 custom with carbon wrapped heavy barrel with suppressor and laminated stock. It shoots well (1" @ 50) but just lacks character. I hardly ever want to go shoot it.

Today my favorites are Winchesters. They are solid steel and walnut. I have a sweet 62A pump that is just fun. I'd love to have a M74 just because I like the mechanics. I'd really like one of the M72 bolt guns with tube feed. I might just have to get one, just cause. I had a M75 club target rifle but don't like clip feeding (losing them).

To this day my most accurate .22, even to 100 yds., is a handgun. A 1957 Ruger MKI 6-7/8" with 2-7x scope. It has done MOA in the past! I have a FWB124 air-rifle that shoots 1//2" 50 yd. groups! Go figure. Accuracy is where you find it.
