The flat nose trick works especially well...

For shooting small squirrels with good energy transfer for more humane hits without tearing up too much meat. Superior to hollow points in my experience. I've not seen any difference in accuracy or feeding so far.

Today the hi-velocity ammo seems the norm but the "standard" velocity ammo offers a lot. No sonic "crack" and with the flat tipped ammo it easily equals HP performance. Some RF do not seem to like standard-vel ammo as much as the hi-velocity for some reason. As the stereotype rings true, .22 RF can be picky with ammo. The Mexican made "Remington/Aquilla" has become a favorite for me. Looking around I found on sale 6k rounds for $300, what a deal!
