design rounds is the throating specs. They usually are designed around some crazy long projectile in a tiny case so the throats are very generous. Great for cast bullets.
While not super powerful, it is akin to pegging something at 100 yds. with the same bullet, as if a .338 Win. Mag. did it from 500 yds. distant. Exactly the same, still a authoritative whack. JD Jones did a .338 on the .30 Luger case! But it was only for suppressor work using Sierra projectiles.
