Some weekend hunt reports

It's "Primitive" rifle season here in AR. Formerly "Muzzleloading" deer season. Now it's straight wall cgt. of .30 cal. or larger included for repeating or single shots.

My brother in law borrowed my converted AR straight pull repeater in .350. I only had (4) hunting rounds loaded up for use. But they were free for him. They were Hornady 200 gr. JRN using an old .357 Max. load I used to shoot. This was loaded up before any published data was around. It's stated to be a little hot, at 2100 fps from my 16" barrel. It beats the old .35 Rem. about 150-200 fps. Deer cant tell a difference.

He used one up on a fawn eating Coyote! Good performance I think.

Then our maintenance division manager Shawn took a decent freezer bound Whitetail buck with his .50 Encore rifle using (2) Pyrodex pellets and a 295 gr. bullet like I had at HHC. They are running about 1600 fps. That is more than enough. Good way to start the season.
