There is no difference between this and changing a Contender pistol into a carbine.

Stink?

The law hasn't got anything to do with a barrel that is easy to change. In fact every rifle barrel can be easily changed with a special tool. It is called a hacksaw.
Nothing questionable about a 1911 carbine.

Thanks for the explanation. Hadn’t thought of that.

it, it has to have at least a 16" barrel. That law goes back many many years. There is no law about barrel length on a handgun. It can be a snubbie or a long barreled carbine. But if you put a stock on it, it has to be at least 16".

An old Indian trick was to order a Reeder barrel

As long as the muzzle device is permanently attached, it counts towards barrel length

just passed and many of us were damned if we were going to use a rifle and not a handgun. So one of my friends bought a 16" 475 GNR barrel, fit a 6" muzzle brake on it, added a shoulder stock to it and it passed as a rifle. When he got to Australia he changed the long muzzle brake for a normal 2" one, added a Pachmayr grip to it and he had a handgun. He got into a herd of donkeys and had a good time. Had snake for dinner one evening, a turtle the next night. Had a great time. He said it was one of his favorite hunts.

Easy there friend....

Calm consideration is so much more effective than hasty condemnation. It is the stock, not the barrel.
