the recoil issue and the human body. I recall our own JT talking about trashing his hand and wrist from years of shooting big bores. So the question comes to mind how do the PHs stand up to their trade, shooting 585 and 505 on a simi regular basis would seem to be a path to a short career

Video footage of recoil effects frame by frame. The first part the body is overcome by the initial effect. Then a notable reaction and capture by the reflex muscles. You basically catch up and control from that point forward. It is amazing the physical contortions that may take place. The shoulder push, head snap. I’ve even recorded Glock frame flex and one Encore popping open and self ejecting, then snapping back shut! That was perplexing at first!

back up rifles a lot more than they shoot them. I only remember 1 time John Abraham (my PH) used his gun in 16 African hunts. At that time his back up rifle was the 500 Nitro and with the weight of the gun the recoil of a 500 Nitro is not much at all.And it wasn't used on one of my animals. I was on the video camera at the time.
