in for us to hi polish and deluxe re-blue it. It is an original Colt-King custom probably from the late 1950s or early 60s. The King company was out of California and did a lot of very special conversions on Colt revolvers. This gun is an Officer's Model Heavy Barrel 38 Special. The King Conversions are highly sought after these days as they seem to be few and far between, most in collectors safes.
The King features on this gun include...
a heavy full length barrel rib
a special adjustable front sight
a mirror insert in the rib that reflects light on the back of the front sight
an adjustable rear sight that is part of the rib
a cast off hammer with a large portion of the hammer off to one side making it easier for your thumb to acquire it.
The short action with a short hammer fall making the movement of the gun much less when the trigger is pulled.
There are probably a few other features that John Taffin will spot that I missed. The gun also has a set of custom grips set up for a right handed shooter.
