Another hunter killed by a bear!

But it would be an interesting way to begin a conversation.

A lady was in her makeshift platform stand about 15 ft. up, settled in there before dawn. Hearing something approaching in the dark she was very still. It stopped beneath her stand tree and was quietly rustling about. Several minutes she tried and tried to see what it was in the pre-light. The small platform shifted and she fell head first! It was cold and she had several layers of clothes, but luckily whatever it was she fell right square upon it, and it added some cushioning of the heavy blow. It did knock the wind from her and she was disoriented hearing something large crash away through the brush. Recovering a flashlight she found a very nice scoped Remington 742 leaned up under her tree stand oak.

They went around to several close by camps but could not find anyone that would claim that 742. The acutual facts are a mystery but they have some plausible theories.

When Nancy finaly got her bear the first thing her guide did before the shot was move everyone out of the bear fall area. Including his hounds that had him treed. Then Nancy took the shot. I think we posted this picture before but here it is again, taken near Williams Az.
