Gary and I used to see Bob Baker at the Y-O Hunts. He is a super nice fellow. He always brought his prototypes and offered to let guys use them. I ended up buying one of his FA2008 and .224-32 FA M97's as a result. Usually I have Gary modify them to my specifications. I do have a couple of FA revolvers in my collection.

I remember reading Jim Taylor's old articles from the last century. Pictures of dramatic power AND recoil!

This is my version of FA perfection for a hunting revolver on their platform. With Gary's modifications at my request. I'm sure everyone's seen it. (he did my FA2008 in .378 GNR too) As I get older the temptation to scope this M83 is very strong.

Odd, since I'm not actually a BIG fan of the .454 and it's thunderous, sharp recoil. But they are special and no doubt accurate arms. I've even fussed about them being a bit too intolerant of less than perfect ammo.

Like everything else, Bob has had to go up on prices! Not everyone is privy to this so keep your eyes peeled for old stock laying in dark corners. I let my 97 slip away but I'm keeping the rest.

This one is the last I picked up at a "old" price. It's not been modified, nor shot much since 1996! The factory test target is 5-shots at 25. No excuses. I'm not a fan of Mag-na-porting as it greases up the front sight ramp, but it had it as a factory option, and was a good value.
