Reeder Custom Guns - Another new big boy's toy. Recently we

introduced our new Half Breed which is doing very well. It is chambered in calibers like 44 Special, 45 Long Colt and 44 Magnum. Recently we have had a few folks ask if we were going to put it out in larger calibers. Well, no. But we do have a brand new offering for you in a larger caliber, and I mean LARGER. This is our new Magnum Packar and this baby is intended for packing in places were there are things that will gladly eat you. The Magnum Packar is not for the limp wristed twinkle toes out there. It is a balls to the wall MAGNUM PACKER. The first Magnum Packar is chambered in 475 Linebaugh in honor of my good friend John Linebaugh and I think he would approve. The gun has a 4" barrel, perfect for packing in bad territory. It has a set back trigger for the utmost in accuracy. It has a beefy 5 shot cylinder for obvious reasons. It has the Magnum Gripframe so you can hang on to it better. The grips are satin Midnight Corian. It is finished in our satin Vapor Honed Black Chromex for no shine and has a jeweled hammer and trigger. It has an interchangeable blade front sight and can be in either red, or green fiber optic or the gold bead or the standard black ramp. The gun shown has the gold bead. The gun is built on your Ruger Blackhawk or Super Blackhawk.
Now, this gun is not for everyone. If you find yourself in places where you need the most on self protection, then this one is for you. But if you don't like recoil, then stay with our Half Breed.
Our new Magnum Packar is built on your Ruger single action and is priced at $1995 on your gun. We have managed to get our delivery time down to 4 to 5 months if you send in your base gun fairly soon. And like all our full custom guns, one third down and we get started on your new Magnum Packer.
Also as I mentioned the recoil is a bit of a thumper so at no extra charge I will engrave your name on the front of the barrel so when they roll you into the ER to get the front sight out of your forehead they will know who owns it as your name will be right there on your forehead. Or for $200 we will have it ported to soften up the recoil.

the 475 Linebaughs to start with the 480 and unless you are being eaten by a bear, wolf,or drunken blonde, stay with the 480.

LB came out you had the choice of a hot top end load or the hot top end load, no medium load was available. But then again John Linebaugh didn't design the cartridge for close range lightweight bullets. John specialized in the heavy bullets as hot as you could stand. And John was great at it, even at half a mile away. Below John Linebaugh and GNR, comparing heavy bullets with medium weight bullets. Or maybe fat girls and medium weight girls. John trying to figure out how to work the phone.

But I wanted something different. I wanted a 325 grain bullet, 350 grain bullet or a 435 grain bullet. I wanted the 2 lighter weight bullets as a jacketed soft point but they were also available from Montana Bullet Works as a hard cast LBT style bullet if you liked and the 435 being a hard cast LBT bullet. The 325 was perfect at 1100 fps, the next up was a 350 also at 1100 fps, and the 425 was an LBT bullet at 1280 fps. These velocities were perfect for big game and even dangerous game. A gentleman named Carrington took a tuskless elephant with the 510 GNR and 350 grain hard cast LBT style on a cull hunt. The elephant dropped at the shot but the PH wanted him to make sure and put one of the 435 grain LBT bullets in the back of the elephant's head. Game over.

I have taken 2 Cape Buffalo with bullets of this weight, one shot each

But it had a stock Ruger steel grip frame. Despite having the (5) Magnaports it would usually cut my hand in recoil. Sending it in to be reworked with a gunfighter grip tamed the beast where I could shoot it. The Bisley Gunfighter grip would be one of the best to manage the beastly .475 LB. Gunfighter treatment to any gripframe style is a great improvement!

from Mag Na Port will tame just about any cartridge. The Magnum 5 porting is one that Ken Kelly designed for our heavy recoiling cartridges. It is 2 ports on each side of the front sight and one on the rear of the front sight.

The main thing about the Gunfighter Grip (there are several variations of the Gunfighter Grip), the one on the new Magnum Packer is the Magnum Gunfighter Grip and is what Scotty got when he sent in his 475. Mainly it eliminates the sharp edges of any gripframe and softens the recoil in the palm of your hand. In most cases it eliminates the bashing of your middle knuckle. Even good friend Bob Baker of Freedom Arms uses the Gunfighter Grip on his heavy recoiling revolvers.
