You can get a cheap crappy Cerakote, or a good one. There are some various steps and complexity to do it properly where it will wear well. Also it is adding to the surface, fractions of thousandths, and a texture, which could effect function. Like I said done properly by someone who knows what they are doing, and probably not cheap, it can be good.
Some times you get what you pay for, unless you are very lucky.
