It was almost sacrilegious to mod a pre-safety lock N-frame, much less one of the .44 Specials. But I just wanted to. Gary did an expert barrel bob to 5”, which I’ve always found exotic. He melded in the narrowed front sight and notched the factory rib a little to solder the interchangeable ramp in place. I’m certain it was extra work but he didn’t charge me over the standard rates. This included an inverted Reeder crown as well.

I can now actually see the front sight to go shoot and enjoy my custom .44 N-frame. The grips are my “knock-abouts” which are Vietnam made ($60 e-bay) S&W copies. I do have a factory stock set for it, sourced from John Taffin no less! But I pamper those.

I’m pleased with that! Used up $6 worth of ammo (or more) to check it.
